Welcome to the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award: St Augustine's College-Sydney
Since reintroduction in 2005, the Award has proved to be a popular option for St Augustine's students who enjoy the experience of pursuing personal goals and achievements outside of their academic lives.
The Award is a self-development program for all young people and encourages them to set and achieve non-competitive goals at a level appropriate to their needs and abilities.
The program provides an opportunity for students to acquire and develop skills, initiative and self esteem which will help them become confident and contributing members of their community.
The scheme is highly regarded by many employers and is recognised internationally.

Award Components
Each award level has four sections of achievement to pursue. The fun part is working out your own Award program! This includes deciding what skill to work on, where to volunteer, what physical recreation activity to do and where to go on your adventurous journey.
For each of your Award Sections you will need someone to assess your commitment and achievements. These people work with you to complete your Online Record Book and achieve your award. Your coordinator may help you recognise and organise appropriate assessors.

Service Perhaps the most personal of all The Duke of Ed sections, Volunteering is all about giving back to the community. It offers Participants the opportunity to engage with society and gain an understanding of the importance of their role within both their immediate and global community. It gives the change to connect with individuals and groups they may have previously overlooked or not been aware of, and to make a real difference to their world. Need some ideas? Useful website: www.dosomethingnearyou.com.au SkillThe Skill Section of The Duke of Ed allows Participants to explore and discover talents within themselves. In some ways, this is the broadest of The Duke of Ed activities because is offers so many choices based on individual interests and passions, whether they be artistic, creative, musical, academic, technical or cultural. |
Physical RecreationThe Physical Rec Section of The Duke of Ed offers the opportunity to participate in physical activity in a variety of ways while being rewarded for having fun! The purpose is to break a sweat, improve your physical fitness and develop healthy fitness habits to continue on with after the Award has been achieved! Motivation is what gets you started - Habit is what keeps you going! Adventurous JourneyThe character of all students begins to flourish when they are given the opportunity to step away from their parents, move outside their comfort zone and face new challenges and adventures. Here at St Augustine's we manage this section of the award using professional third-party operators. Go to our Adventurous Journey page for details. More info: Adventurous Journey |
